Camera and augmented reality
WakeAR uses the rear camera to recognize event reference images and place video content on them. Image recognition happens locally on the device. Live camera frames are not uploaded to WakeAR, event organizers, or any server.
Microphone and recordings
The microphone is requested only when you choose to record. Screen recordings combine the camera view, the AR layer, and audio on your device. WakeAR does not upload or retain those recordings. Saving or sharing happens only after your action, using the device gallery or the destination you select in the system share sheet.
Event content and local storage
When you enter or scan an event code, WakeAR downloads that event's manifest, reference images, and videos from its content service and CDN. The last selected event and downloaded content may be cached on the device so the event can continue to work offline. Cached content is replaced when its version changes and may be removed automatically to manage storage.
Information we do not collect
WakeAR does not require a viewer account. We do not collect names, email addresses, contacts, precise location, advertising identifiers, camera frames, microphone recordings, or AR recordings from viewers. We do not use advertising or cross-app tracking, and we do not sell personal information.
Service operation
Hosting and content-delivery providers may process ordinary technical request information, such as an IP address and request time, transiently for delivery, security, abuse prevention, and reliability. WakeAR does not use this information to identify viewers, build profiles, or advertise to them.
Event content
Event images and videos are supplied by authorized event administrators. Questions about the content of a particular event should be directed to the event organizer.
Children
WakeAR is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
You can deny or later revoke camera, microphone, and photo-library permissions in your device settings. Some features will not work without the permission they require. Deleting WakeAR removes locally cached event content.
WakeAR Support
If an event does not load, confirm that the event code is correct and that the device has an internet connection. For recognition issues, use even lighting, avoid reflections, keep the printed image flat, and frame the complete image in the camera.
